[Interview] Women's Representative
What is your role and what does that role entail?
Women’s representative. I tackle issues that women feel need addressing and voice concerns that are overlooked.
Why did you run for council?
I ran as I felt like I could make a substantial impact on Murdoch and represent women in a meaningful way. This role is so important in that women have overcome so much in the past and I want to ensure that progress is still occurring. As women’s representative I want to celebrate our achievements as well as creating more.
What project are you currently working on?
Currently myself and Isaac Fullerton are investigating the sanitation of the toilets (men and women) on campus, hoping to improve the cleanliness and appearance of them. I hope to have more vending machines in the women’s toilets that include hygiene and sanitary products.
I’m also hoping to look into the campus lighting and security that Yakira was investigating last year.
What do you hope to be your legacy when you leave this role?
I hope to leave a legacy that encourages other women to step up into these roles and tackle issues that they feel are important. It only takes a small push to keep the ball rolling.
What is your favourite thing about Murdoch?
5. The people you meet along the way. Whether it be from your degree or through other venues, it’s the experiences and memories you gain through friendships.
