Most bus shelters around Murdoch have had their roofs taken off after one collapsed near the Student Village.
On Friday the 13th of May, it was alleged that a Murdoch student and their two friends made a bus shelter collapse after swinging on it.
It is still unknown who the student is or whether they sustained any injuries.

The Murdoch University Sustainability Team (MUST) are bringing events to campus that will encourage students to hop on their bikes.
The week has kicked with a screening of UnReal, a mountain biking film, on Bush Court at 7pm tonight to get students in the spirit.
To emphasis the power of the humble machine, MUST will also provide smoothies generated by pure cycle power during this Thursday’s market day stall.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START THE GROUP?
The inspiration for the club mostly came after the drive to bring back Humans vs Zombies (HvZ). Our staff came to the decision that as a ‘gaming club’, we could organise or help out with other games that create the same sense of competition and fun that HvZ always has. That’s also where the club name came from: we’re endeavouring to get people together, having fun and competing.

An estimated eight Australians are diagnosed with leukaemia every day, with 1, 720 people losing their battle with the cancer in 2014.
Murdoch student and Guild Sustainability Officer Lauren Hodson knows too well what it’s like to be drawn into the crossfire, losing her father to the disease ten years ago.
On March 13, Lauren will take to the clippers and lose her long locks in a bid to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.

Elected to the position during the Guild elections in October 2015, Rachael Davidson has stepped down as Events Officer for this year.
One of the three members of the ACTION ticket to be elected to the 40th Guild, Davidson was elected unopposed after a last-minute disqualification of the TMNT nominee.

The final Guild meeting for the year has yielded some major changes for Murdoch students, with the axing of some Guild positions, changes to the Clubs Room and tough financial decisions.
The outgoing guard, helmed by Raeesah Khan, have removed a number of Guild Council positions, including the Rural Regional and Interstate representative and closed the Rockingham Student Association (RSA).

Professor Eeva Leinonen will become Murdoch University’s Vice-Chancellor from 2016.
Professor Leinonen is the university’s first female Vice-Chancellor and replaces Professor Andrew Taggart, who has been acting in the role since October 2015.
The university has been on the hunt for a new Vice-Chancellor since the controversial resignation of Richard Higgott late last year.

Murdoch was ranked top 91-100 universities under 50 years old by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) earlier this week.
The 40-year-old university is joined at the bottom end of the chart with Charles Darwin University and the University of Canberra.

Western Australia’s auditor-general, Colin Murphy, released a report today detailing concerns about the security of sensitive information stored by agencies.
Murdoch University was one of the seven agencies involved in the audit, which also includes Curtin University and the Legal Aid Commission of WA among others.
Murdoch University makes up 31 of the 115 failures logged in the report, seven of them extreme.

Apart from the large increase in votes, 2015 also sees the number of vacant positions drop to 13 out of 45 positions compared to 2014’s 20.

The Murdoch Now Team, headed by Guy McDonald, has emerged as the overall winners of the 2015 Murdoch student elections.
This year marks the largest voter turnout since 2011, with 4113 votes across 15 ballots.
The new Guild Executive, which will take office from 1 December, will be headed by Guy McDonald as President and Andy Hunter as General Secretary.

Student election season has gone into hyperdrive, with voting now open and the stupollies going hard and fast on Bush Court.
I’d first like to acknowledge that METIOR remains impartial, especially in the wake of contributor and outgoing EVP Roland Belford’s endorsement of the ACTION ticket. Roland recently analysed both TMNT’s and ACTION’s policies. He ran under the ACTION ticket in 2014 and the analysis must be read with that bias in mind.

Here we go for round two of policy analysis, rules are the same as before, judging policy on how realist they are in my experience with student politics at Murdoch.
I am familiar with most of the Action candidates, I met their executive team of Troy, Brodie and Gavin in 2014 as Guild President as they were all active students in various clubs and Troy and Brodie ran for election as part of the same ticket with me last year. I met Lauren this year volunteering for WSEN, which she co-ordinated and have met Claudia and Rachel who have been very active getting Student for Refugees off the ground this year. Also David, their School Board nominee contacted The Guild this year to begin the petition about services at the library.

Welcome to the first installment of election policy analysis, where I will dissect and evaluate the policies of the major tickets contesting the 2015 Murdoch Student Elections. As a paid staffer of the Guild in 2012, Guild President in 2014 and Education Vice President this year, I feel suitably qualified to pass judgement on how achievable policies are, with an occasional comment thrown in. A talk on sex work law reform will see controversial lobby group Collective Shout on campus after their previous event was cancelled by the Murdoch Student Guild.
Organised by the School of Law, the event will feature Caitlin Roper, a member of Collective Shout, who was scheduled to speak during SHAG [Sexual Health Awareness Guidance] week about the objectification of women in the media.
